National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) is inviting Bomachoge Chache Constituency residents to plant 10,000 trees at Riamo Primary School tomorrow.

NEMA committee member Amos Nyamoko expressed a strong desire for schools to embrace tree planting as a way of conserving the environment and fighting climate change.

“We need to encourage our children to plant trees in their schools and homes to protect our world from climate degradation,” he said.

Addressing students from selected secondary schools in the county to spearhead the programme, he told them be focused and be role models because they were picked from many who deserved the position.

“Yours is to be ambassadors in your schools and the entire community; therefore, you are asked to uphold the highest discipline possible” he said.

He appealed to parents to release their children who are on holiday for tomorrow’s exercise.

Before the start of the exercise, talented students will entertain the rest with drama, Music and standing comedies.

“We want to use this occasion to sensitize parents on how they can come up with constructive activities for their children during holidays to keep them away from drugs and wrong influence,” he said.

Andama appealed to churches and individual groups to turn up in big numbers to grace the occasion.

He said that his team will educate the public on the importance of using indigenous trees to conserve the environment as opposed to the exotic ones.
