A female student at the University of Embu Nessy Oside has garnered a full scholarship for a Masters Degree at a university of her choice after emerging as the valedictorian of the Class of 2023.

During the recent graduation ceremony, the Acting Chancellor Dr. Kenedy Okong’o and Vice Chancellor Prof. Daniel Mugendi presented her a certificate of commendation and a cash reward of Ksh. 10, 000.

As an eighth recipient of the Best Graduating Student award, Oside distinguished herself in the School of Education and Social Sciences.

Heralded for her prowess both inside and outside the classroom, she was lauded by her professors as a diligent learner who approached every subject with curiosity and determination.

Her academic excellence extended beyond the confines of textbooks, as she actively participated in extracurricular activities and championed social issues within the university community.

Her professors commended her not only for academic brilliance but also for her outstanding involvement in sports, where she excelled as a midfielder in football, a fly-half in rugby, and a noteworthy participant in athletics.

Furthermore, Oside showcased her commitment to holistic development by being an integral member of the Christian Union, finding solace, community, and spiritual growth.

Her involvement extended to the Statistics Club, where she seamlessly combined theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

In her acceptance speech, Oside expressed gratitude to her classmates, university leadership, lecturers, and staff for fostering an educative and comfortable environment.

She further acknowledged the profound impact of the University of Embu on her academic, social, and personal development, emphasizing that it had molded them into “fine young men and women” ready to face the professional world.

As Oside and her fellow graduates embark on their journey beyond university walls, she urged them to uphold the institution’s core values of integrity, inventiveness, professionalism, and teamwork.

She additionally challenged her colleagues to remain curious, seek knowledge, and embody these values in their future endeavors, ensuring a successful and impactful future for all.
