The National Fund for the Disabled has encouraged parents in Trans Mara, Narok County, to prioritize the education of their disabled children.

Speaking at the handover of two classrooms at the Tagitech special school in Trans Mara , the Vice Chair Officer of the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK)  board of trustees Michael Kiswili, emphasized that neglecting disabled children, as has happened in the past, is unacceptable.

“Education is a constitutional right for all children yet some parents discriminate against disabled children,” Kiswili lamented.

Additionally, he revealed that NFDK has allocated funds to support institutions for the disabled nationwide.

Kiswili also dispelled outdated beliefs, stating that with education, disabled children can become self-reliant.

“You should take advantage of schools like this because disabled children can be self-reliant if given education,” he added.

Deputy Governor Tamalinye Koech and MCA Samuel Towett applauded the initiative, affirming the county government’s commitment to supporting such schools.
