Bungoma National Polytechnic, formerly Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), will partner with the County Government of Bungoma to offer Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) training to teachers.

The polytechnic Principal Dr. Rosebella Chukwu, said that the partnership will go a long way in equipping tutors in Competency Based Education and Training (CBET).

She was speaking when she led a delegation to pay a courtesy call to the Bungoma CEC for Education Dr. David Wamamili Wanyonyi on Monday.

Chukwu said that they are also seeking collaboration with the State Department for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the Curriculum Development Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC).

Sang’alo Institute of Science and Technology now Bungoma National Polytechnic Administration block.

College Registrar, Samuel Mbeta, said that the College Institute Canada (CICan) is partnering with Sang’alo in the facilitation of various activities and that it will also extend its support to various Vocational Training Centres (VTCs) in the county.

He added that the national polytechnic is currently mentoring three VTCs namely; Mufule, Kabula and Luanda.

CEC Wamamili lauded the move, saying that it will enable VTCs to continue equipping teachers in CBET and in the long run, transform the education sector.

“We are going to work together to ensure that our VTC tutors get the best training and in turn equip trainees with the needed skills,” he said.
