Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has commissioned modern Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) twin classes at Misemwa and Bikeke Primary Schools in Kiminini sub-county.

Natembeya emphasized his commitment to reforming the education sector through infrastructure development, especially in ECDEs and Vocational Training Centers (VTCs),

He issued a stern warning to education administrations cautioning them against attempts to alter the intended use of the classrooms saying he will not permit the displacement of young children to accommodate older pupils.

The Governor acknowledged that the current space constraints in ECDEs hindered essential activities such as sports and said that plans were underway to acquire additional land to facilitate the expansion of the schools.

He also noted that there was a need to employ more ECDE teachers, highlighting that the county had already hired the current ones on permanent and pensionable terms.

Regarding bursary allocation, Natembeya reiterated his dedication to supporting underprivileged children in completing their education by providing them with bursaries and scholarships.

He underscored the significance of financial stability for county residents through the Nawiri Fund which has been allocated Ksh200 million.

The Governor said that the fund is meant to benefit businesspersons and startups, encouraging the residents to utilize it to enhance their financial well-being.

The CEC for Education and Vocational Training, Sam Ojwang, revealed that over 20 modern ECDEs will commission over 20 modern ECDEs as part of efforts to ensure an improved learning environment for young children.

The Governor was accompanied by County Secretary Truphosa Amere, Deputy County Secretary George Kisaka, CEC for Agriculture Phanice Khatundi, CEC for Roads Jackson Amboka, Chief of Staff Dickson Wamocho, Gender Advisor Jastina Siti and Personal Assistant Emmanuel Wamalwa among other officials.
