Heads of upcoming technical and vocational training institutions have expressed concerns over the high costs involved in auditing their books by the office of the auditor general.
The heads said some vocational training institutions were finding it difficult to raise the requisite 250,000/- for auditing purposes.
A Deputy Director of Audit at Office of the Auditor General of Kenya Mr Samuel Waweru advised such institutions to write to the concerned ministry for directions.
Waweru was responding to concerns raised by heads of TVETS during a meeting in Kisumu.
He told the heads to acquaint themselves with the Public Finance Act in order for them to deal with issues of finances diligently.
Waweru said heads should be ready to give information to auditors at their respective institutions.
He advised them not to be bulldozed by board members on matters of finance since they are the accounting officers at the end of the day.
