School boys hailed for saving police officer from domestic violence

POLICE OFFICER RESCUED BY SCHOOLBOYS

Residents of Itibo Market in Kisii County have lauded schoolboys who braved the darkness of the night to rescue a police officer from an irate man.

According to the residents, the schoolboys who stay together at the market for holiday group study heard the distress call from their neighbour and sought to know what was happening.

“We forced the door open and intervened to save the woman who was helplessly being beaten by a man.” Said one of the boys

After they separated the two, the boys said they then alerted the area chief who identified the woman as a police officer attached to one of the police posts in Sameta Sub County.

The chief said the man who is believed to be the police officer’s husband beat her up and used a hot iron box to burn her thighs.

Neighbours said the two had been involved in domestic quarrels which might have led to the fight.

Kisii County police Commander Charles Kesses confirmed the incident and condemned the heinous attack.

He said the police had launched a manhunt for the suspect who was still at large.

He thanked the schoolboys for the bold step they took to rescue the police officer.

Kesses said the culprit will face the law when apprehended.

The woman is recuperating at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital where she was admitted for treatment.
