A college student who dropped out of school due to backbone complications is appealing for financial support to enable her complete her education and secure a job.
Daisy Nkatha, a student at Igoji Teachers Training College dropped out of college due to backbone complications.
Nkatha hails from Kiraro village, Chogoria location in Maara constituency in Tharaka Nithi County.
The student is now in despair after she was diagnosed with the an ailment following a medical examination at Chogoria Mission Hospital where it was discovered that her backbone had dislocated, making it impossible for her to stand up or engage in her normal day-to-day activities.
She continued to undergo treatment at Kiirua and Chogoria hospitals and after three months, Nkatha’s hopes of recovery were rekindled after she was able to stand, walk and sit with support.
But her family is currently unable to afford the medication saying the drugs are extremely expensive while Nkatha’s father Nicholas Kiraithe, suffered a broken leg.
Judith Cianjeru, a neighbor said the family has been surviving through the support of family and friends for financial, food and moral support.
The family is now appealing to Governor Muthomi Njuki, Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, and Woman Representative Susan Ngugi among other leaders and well-wishers to support them to enable Nkatha recover fully and resume her studies.
