Compassion and giving back to the community have led Kiambu businessman and Philanthropist to be honoured with a doctorate degree by the Angaza Bible and Training Institute (ABTI).
In a colourful event held at Gospel International Trinity Church of Kenya in Githurai 45 in Kiambu County, Jimmy Mwenja Komu was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate of Christian Entrepreneurship by bishop Dr Kennedy Anaswa Musee ABTI chancellor with the authority of the institute affiliates which includes Open Christian University in the USA and International Kingdom University in the USA.
According to Anaswa Mwenja graduated through merit as he was learning at the institute and was nominated to be honoured by Apostle Dr Paul Oracle Mburu where the institute vetted Mwenja’s efforts to the community and the institute board unanimously agreed to honour Mwenja.
“Angaza Institute engages servant leaders and after vetting Mwenja through so many aspects the board agreed that he deserved to be honoured due to the work he has done for humanity and the community for so many years,” Anaswa said.
Anaswa said that the institute will have its official launch on 18th August 2023 at Kamukywa in Bungumo county where those interested in learning theology among other courses can enroll.
“We are registered and accredited by the Technical and vocational education and Training Authority (TVETA) and we are calling upon religious leaders to come and enrol so that they can be educated on theology and become certified as per the Kenya constitution,” Anaswa said.
Mwenja on his part said that he did not expect to be honoured in such a big way saying that the doctorate will motivate him more to continue serving the less fortunate.
“I have been helping people all my life and I do it out of good heart without wanting to be rewarded. I feel honoured to receive the doctorate degree which has now motivated me to continue doing good for my community,” Mwenja said.
He added that he has learnt a lot at the institute where he has been equipped with better knowledge of life and understanding the word of God.
Apostle Mburu said that by working closely with Mwenja for many years he saw first-hand how the less fortunate have benefitted from the doings of Mwenja.
“the community can attest that Mwenja has been helping out whenever he can and that is the reason by being in advisory at Angaza Institute I nominated him to be honoured with a doctorate degree which he passed the vetting committee,” Mburu said.
Lilly Muthoni daughter of Mwenja said that she grew up seeing her father giving back to the community despite them not being rich.
My father has always been helping out whenever he can and I am proud of him for being honoured as he really deserves for his great efforts,” Muthoni said.
Henry Kiumu an employee of Mwenja said that he was helped by Mwenja after he got into an accident and was helped financially and was also employed.
“Mwenja has employed over 800 persons and is earning their daily bread through him and I have seen him helping the less fortunate and in all aspects, he deserves to be honoured,” Kiumu said.
