Shanderema School kept their Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSA) competitions football title contention alive with a 3-0 drubbing of hard fighting Kiringari School in the last Pool A match played at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega.

The Kakamega County representatives netted two goals in quick succession in the first half and added the extras from the spot in the second half.

The win over the Central region ambassadors propelled the “Green Jewel” side to the semifinals setting an epic clash tomorrow, Friday, against Trans Nzoia’s St. Anthony Boys, at Bukhungu Stadium.

Dagoretti will play Agoro Sare in the other semifinal match at the same venue.

Butere Girls also booked a semifinal slot, in the girls’ category, against another Western side, Madira Girls.

In rugby, bullish Kakamega County champions Koyonzo Boys drowned the hopes of former rugby power house Lenana School with a 31-5 thrashing at the Western Bulls – “Bull Ring” grounds, in the quarter finals and will now meet Eastern’s Kitondo School in the first semis of the day on Friday.

Bishop Sulumeti and Mwira Girls both from Kakamega also qualified for the semifinals.

Mwitoti Girls will play Kwanzante in the second volleyball semifinal.

The County representatives are buoyed by both the County Government and H.E Governor Fernandes Barasa’s support as well as a massive home fan base.
