Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti has promised to liaise with stakeholders in promoting education in Machakos County.

Speaking while attending at Kathiani girls’ high school Wavinya noted that the schools in the county have the potential to do well in exams.

She commended Kathiani girls’ high school for striving to be the best adding that their efforts won’t go unrewarded.

She noted that the school benefited with Sh.30, 000 out of the Sh.1.2 million shillings Kathiani Sub County got from the County bursaries.

“I want to assure you that I will work closely with teachers and schools in collaboration of the national government to ensure our children do better and the education standards go up for the benefit of our people,” she said.

“Kathiani girls’ school is going to be our “Alliance” soon but this cannot be achieved if there is no discipline and hard work.

Mark my words Machakos County will perform better and be the place of interest when looking for schools for our children,” she added.

Her sentiments were echoed by the school Chief Principal Damaris Munyao who urged parents to monitor their children while at home and uphold high levels of discipline.

She disclosed that 96 percent of last year’s candidates proceeded to the university stating that this year they’re hoping for a hundred percent transition to university.

“This year we are targeting a mean score of 9.9 a positive deviation of 0.8 from our previous performance so that all the candidates can proceed to the university.

I would also like to urge parents to be involved in their children’s lives while they are at home, monitor them and ensure they maintain discipline, “said Mrs. Munyao.

Daniel Yumbya the school Board of Management chairman said the board will do its best to ensure the deficit of 12 teachers has been sorted out soon to facilitate education.

He also promised to ensure the students acquire what they need to perform better.

Kathiani girls’ high school is the only national girls’ school in the county and has had a streak of good grades in KCSE for the last four years.
