Age-appropriate furniture for Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) learners in PP1 and PP2 has been distributed to 12 ECDE Centres in Kaptembwo, Shabaab, Rhonda, London, Barut, and Kapkures Wards in Nakuru West Sub-County.
The distribution prioritized schools with high demand and large enrollment as Governor Susan Kihika’s administration is fully committed to equipping all centers across the county to create a conducive learning environment for the learners.
Education Chief Officer John Koech, leading the distribution exercise, announced that this financial year, the county plans to employ additional ECDE teachers to bridge the gap in the teacher-to-learner ratio with priority given to teachers currently employed by parents in public ECDE centers in the county.
He was accompanied by representatives from the office of the Governor (Hawa and Teresia Njoki), Jane Ogembo from the Directorate of Education, the Shabaab ward Administrator, Shabaab Member of the County Assembly, and the head teachers of the beneficiary centers.
The initiative taken by the Nakuru County Department of Education showcases the commitment of local authorities toward the development of early childhood education in Nakuru West Sub-County.
By investing in age-appropriate furniture and instructional materials, the county aims to provide a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters the overall growth and development of young learners.
Such efforts pave the way for a brighter and more promising future for the children of Nakuru County.
