The County government of Kisumu has received a major boost after a nongovernmental organization facilitated the construction of two early childhood development facilities worth 3.2 million shillings.
The projects funded by the World Vision program seek to improve overall early childhood education through the provision of high-quality and accessible education.
According to Mr. Jeremiah Orongo, the Manager World Vision, the project is part of the many projects that are officially completed and handed over to the county government, including water and sanitation projects in the area.
The county minister for Education, Mr. John Awiti received the two complete classrooms for the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centres at Olwale and St Alloys Gem Primary schools in North and Central Nyakach at a tune of 1.4 Million and 1.8 Million respectively.
The CEC member was grateful to World Vision for their input in improving the standard of Early childhood learning in Nyakach.
Mr. Awiti called on the community and the county administration to make maximum use of the facilities through increased enrolment of children and proper management of the facilities.
The CEC member acknowledged the efforts to increase ECD Centres across the county stating that with the two additional centers, the county has 160 modern centers.
He also pledged to have more placement of teachers.
The event saw the two partners; County and World Vision sign a handover agreement to own and manage the centers for sustainable provision of quality education to the children.
This is a big push by the county government and its partners, to improve early childhood education that would prepare children for primary and higher learning education.
The handing-over ceremony came at a time when World Vision’s 20-year program in Nyakach ends following the conclusion of the projects in the area.
The sub-county administration, the school administration, other county officials, and members of the community witnessed the handing over ceremony of the two facilities.
