A birthday party turned tragic after a student from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kanyakine in South Imenti Constituency, Meru County was stabbed to death by her lover in what is believed to be a love triangle.
Winfred Opha, 22, was reported to have been killed in cold blood by her boyfriend who came to visit without informing her.
The suspect found the deceased in the company of another man in a rented house.
The area acting Chief Humphrey Mugambi said the students from Kanyakine Medical College held a party over the weekend and partied until the wee hours of the morning before tragedy struck.
“The boyfriend visited without informing her. A fight broke out when he found her in the company of another man,” said the chief.
The deceased died while being rushed to hospital by neighbors who responded to her distress call after being stabbed three times in the neck, chest, and stomach.
The Neighbors said she was bleeding profusely.
Three of her colleagues sustained injuries during the scuffle and one was briefly admitted at Kanyakine hospital.
Police officers have already launched a manhunt for the suspect who escaped immediately after the incident.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kanyakine hospital mortuary for postmortem analysis as the police launched investigations into the matter.
