Kanduyi MP pledges support to enhance Education Standards

Kanduyi Member of Parliament John Makali has reiterated his commitment to boosting the Education Standards in the constituency.

The legislator averred that through the  National  Government  Constituencies  Development  Fund  NG-CDF  Kitty he will cushion the Vulnerable  Families from the high costs of education.

He said his office will continue to prioritize and address various needs of schools one by one across   Kanduyi  Constituency, to ensure that all public schools receive the necessary resources for providing quality education to the students.

Speaking at St. Teresa  Sio  Secondary School during the  Annual  General  Meeting  AGM Makali noted that he was aware of infrastructural inadequacies faced by schools in his constituency hence the need to plan on how to fix the challenges as aptly captured in a public participation report that was conducted across the Constituency.

The MP revealed that he had allocated the school KShs 2 million in this financial year from the NG-CDF funds to purchase land for expansion and construct a twin laboratory.

“I have established a working rapport with teachers, and stakeholders in the education sector to ensure our students post impressive results,” said Makali.

Musikoma ward  Member of county assembly  George  Makari and his  Township  Ward  Counterpart  Jeremiah  Kuloba alias  Makabichi who were also present gave the school cheques worth  Kshs  412,000  and  Kshs  394,000  Respectively towards bursaries for the students from their respective wards.

The  Guest  Speaker, a teacher by profession for over  38  years having worked as  Chief  Principal in  Schools like  St Brigids  Kiminini  Girls and  Moi  Girls  Eldoret  Mrs.  Rose  Wanaswa urged the parents to work hand in hand with teachers so as to boost the performance of their children in  KCSE  Examinations  Results.

Wanaswa who was awarded as the  Principal of the Year in 2013   asked students to embrace a high sense of discipline both at school and home noting that there is no weak student nor perfect one, but it wholly depends on someone’s ability to be ready to learn and follow instructions from his or her teachers and parents.

“ Teachers should have a positive mind about learners by marketing their subjects, said  Mrs  Wanaswa.  ”

The School Principal Mr. Paul  Mutimba said the school had a total candidature of 220  students last year and managed a  mean score of  4.65  whereby  26  students got the minimum direct entry grade to university, C+.

Mr  Mutimba called upon parents to take up full responsibility in matters of school fees payment hinting that they owe the school a tune of  Kshs  Five  Million in school  Fees  Arrears.
