KNUT Trans Mara to hold AGM on July 22

KNUT AGM

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Trans Mara has announced that it will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on July 22.

Speaking to Education News at his Kilgoris office, branch Executive Secretary Willy Korir said that the meeting will be an opportunity for members to meet after the long break that was occasioned by Covid-19.

The Unionist, who was flanked by Chairman John Samboti Mulele, underscored the importance of the AGM and urged its 2,400 members to turn up in large numbers to air their views and concerns, adding that the Union Secretary General Collins Oyuu will preside over as the Chief Guest.

“Ours is a democratic Union where accept criticism and take proposals seriously then blend and churn them in the same gourd to await results,” he said.

Chairman Musele said that the meeting will allow members to assess and evaluate the branch’s progress and recommend possible ways to boost its vibrance and growth.

“I want to tell teaches that this is their house and should not expect anybody else to strengthen it apart from themselves,” he said.

The Chairman added that the meeting will provide space to unite their voices in the face of the ongoing economic constraints.

The two unionists asked the country’s opposition party to provide the government with space and time to settle before criticizing it as it tries to revive the economy.

They appealed for peace to prevail especially at this time when students are preparing for their national examinations.
