Grace Nabiswa, a student from Moi Girls High School Eldoret in Uasin Gishu County has been elected as Deputy Governor for the Children’s Devolution Conference.
The election was held on the sidelines of the ongoing conference in Kiambu County where Abel Kulabo from a special needs school in Kericho County was elected as the Governor.
The elected officials will read the resolutions reached from the children’s conference during the main Devolution Conference which will be held in Uasin Gishu in August.
Uasin Gishu County Executive Committee Member for Education Dr. Janeth Kosgei said that she had encouraged students to participate in leadership and applauded Grace’s election into the children’s caucus leadership.
“We as a County are proud of you and we see a bright future in your,” she said.
Dr, Kosgei noted that the conference has been successful so far saying that it gave the children a platform to share their thoughts on devolution for leaders to get feedback about their performance and also serve people better.
The County Director for Education Dr. Shadrack Morogo said that there was need to give children a voice before making decisions which affect their lives.
Other schools from the county which participated the conference include; Moi Girls High School Eldoret, Wareng’ High School, University of Eldoret Primary School, Hill School Primary and Eldoret School for the Mentally Challenged.
