MP warns school heads against sending learners away due to fee balances

Kimilili Member of Parliament (MP) Didmus Barasa has cautioned school heads against sending learners home due to school fee balances, saying that if found stern action will be taken against them.

In an interview with the press on Tuesday, MP Barasa said that a lot of time was lost during the Covid-19 lockdowns and urged the teachers to let the learners stay in class to recover the time.

The MP noted that the constituency, through the NG-CDF kitty, has constructed over 40 storey buildings in a bid to facelift schools in Kimilili to provide a conducive learning environment for learners.

He affirmed that most schools have adapted to CBC requirements urging parents to enrol their children to area Junior Secondary School (JSS) schools and pledged support from the NG-CDF kitty as well.

Barasa claimed that some teachers were imposing extra levies but assured parents that he will deal with it.

The legislator said that the NG-CDF kitty had allocated Ksh10 million to set up a Huduma Centre to bring government services closer to residents.

“I have been getting complaints from locals that they are struggling to get the Huduma services, it is because of that reason I have cooperated with the national office to establish a centre here.” He said.
