Openda location Chief Damson Nyakangi has warned area residents of defiling young school children.
The chief lamented over the high cases of child defilement in the area and warned parents against settling such cases locally, arguing that it is a violation of children’s rights.
Nyakangi revealed that his office had tightened security in the area and that anybody found defiling children will be arrested and arraigned in the court of law.
He advised parents whose children had been defiled to take them to hospital for treatment and report such cases to the police for action to be taken.
The chief further asked parents to show compassion and love towards their children since an unloved child develops low self-esteem that affects their performance in school.
