Homa Bay County Chief Officer in Charge of Health Dr. Kevi Osuri has assured parents of their children’s safety in schools after reports of a cholera outbreak surfaced in some parts of the county.

“There are a few isolated cases of the disease in parts of the county. We have put our medical personnel on alert so there is no cause for alarm,” he said.

The officer was responding to concerns from parents who sought to be assured of their children’s safety.

Dr. Osuri said that there were 15 confirmed cases in Sindo village, Suba South constituency.

He confirmed that 4 of the affected patients were treated and discharged while 11 of them were admitted at Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital for further medical attention.

He appealed to the public to report any identifiable case to any of the hospitals in the county for quick interventions.

Dr. Osuri asked the residents to ensure hygiene in their immediate environment to avoid contracting the illness.
