Construction contractors and workers building infrastructure in secondary and primary schools in Bonchari constituency have decried the high cost of building materials required to continue assigned projects.

Led by Chairman Peter Momanyi, they said that they are having a hard time to complete construction of classrooms they tendered from the area NG-CDF office.

“We are at a standstill because we cannot afford building materials that are now above our budgetary quotations,” he said.

Momanyi appealed to area Member of Parliament (MP) Dr. Charles Onchoke to intervene and tell his NG-CDF committee to review the tender agreement and harmonize it with the current market prices to protect them from being insolvent.

“We appeal to our MP who is a professional financial manager to come to our help before we abandon the sites due to fear of running into losses,” said Samson Mokora, a contractor.

Many projects in the constituency remain incomplete including Rianyabaro Primary school and Itibo and Riotero Secondary schools.
