World Vision Kenya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Baringo county government that will see schools in the area get access to clean water.

Speaking during the signing of the MoU, the organization National Director Mr. Richard Kamanga said access to clean water will lead to enrolment and retention of learners in schools and reduce affinity to illnesses in addition to positively impacting the community.

He noted that schools in Baringo South, Baringo North and Tiaty regions are targeted to benefit from various projects by the organization.

Dr. Kamanga said World Vision was committed to ensuring children remain in school through actions that would see harmful cultural practices such as child pregnancies, early marriages and retrogressive cultures rampant in the said regions put to an end.

Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi lauded milestones by the organization in changing lives of people in communities across the county including the already commenced construction of Akoret Secondary school funded to a tune of Ksh100 million.

“The county government remains dedicated to better education in our communities. With the support from our partners, through signing of the MoU we are assured of change in quality of education up from Early Childhood Development and Education,” said the governor.

He underscored that accelerated education for the youth in areas facing myriad challenges including insecurity instigated by cattle rustling would allow continuance in education.
