“300 ECDE teachers will undergo the two-day training in its first phase. More training will be conducted in other sub-counties in the coming months. The county has so far recruited 1,650 ECDE teachers across the county,” he said.

The DG noted that the training will be continuous and sustained to ensure teachers are equipped to with knowledge, experiences and competencies to enable development and implementation efforts.

He reiterated that the county government will continue to invest heavily in early childhood education so as to strengthen the foundation of education.

“We are channeling more resources towards training of ECDE teachers to build their capacity to effectively interpret and implement the new curriculum,” he said.

He reassured the teachers of the county’s commitment to ensure ECDE learning is not interrupted by ensuring salary payments on time and providing necessary materials for learning.

Mr. Komolle added that after the training, the teachers are expected to shift from the traditional mode of teaching where the teacher stands in front of the class and lectures to the teacher joining learner groups and holding discussions.

According to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), all teachers must be compliant with CBC to impart knowledge and skills to learners.
