Newly crowned champions emerge in national drama festivals

The national drama festivals held in Mombasa that elapsed on Saturday, was one of a kind as Nyali Primary School became the newly crowned champions who beat all the odds to emerge winners. The school topped for best play category in their play ‘TickTock’.

This was a rare feat never achieved before by a Coastal School where Westlands Primary School took position two with Party After Party dance.

At the same time, Matunga Girls Secondary School from Coast toppled perennial winners Kakamega High School with their dance Musokokoto, which depicts rampant drugs and substance abuse in schools.

The dance was all about the students unwittingly buying cookies and other edibles laced with drugs meant to hook them into the habit. It is discovered in the nick of time and culprits arrested but are rehabilitated as a way of finding a permanent end to the vice.

Migosi Primary School from Kisumu also came out big in the cultural dance category for the very first time in a category known to be domiciled by private schools by far in the previous years.

Sabatia Technical and Vocational Collage caused another upset when they emerged victorious in both the play and the cultural creative dance. Their items Esese and Ghosts of Garbatullah respectively were a fresh injection into the fete with simple and entertaining storylines.
