Mother demands justice after Kipsigis Girls teacher defiles daughter

Kipsigis justice

The mother of a 17-year-old form four student at Kipsigis Girls in Kericho County is seeking justice after her daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by a teacher on Easter Sunday.

The girl said that she visited his office to borrow his mobile phone to speak with her parents but he instead locked her in his office before proceeding to do the barbaric act.

According to the mother who stormed the school compound while fuming and cussing, the institution had turned a blind eye on the issue despite the Chaplain reporting the incident.

“My daughter reported the case to the Chaplain, who reported it to the Deputy Principal but no action was taken. I got the news when schools closed and we immediately sought medical attention before recording a statement at the police station,” she explained.

The teacher cunningly locked her inside the office citing it was against the school regulations to use mobile phones from teachers.

“The most disappointing part is the negligence showed by the institution even after being aware of the case. The student was neither taken to hospital nor to the police station to record a statement, until two weeks elapsed when she came home to report the issue,” the mother said.

She added: “This is worrying because we entrust teachers to take good care of our children in schools and as a parent, I am worried about the welfare of our children. It makes me worry of the many girls who don’t have the guts to speak up on the matter and end up suffering mentally.”

The suspect is currently being held at Kericho Police Station awaiting arraignment as the police wrap up investigations.

By the time of publishing this story, the school was yet to release a statement on the issue.
