Tendere Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA), James Ondari, has appealed to the government to castrate and administer severe punishments to men found guilty of raping or defiling underage girls attending school.
“I lack a name to call this type of people who should not even be allowed to stay with us.” he said.
The MCA was speaking at Tendere stadium where he had accompanied Kisii County Woman Representative Doris Aburi, during her charity mission to distribute food stuffs and clothes to the needy in society.
Aburi appealed to the parents to educate their young girls during their formative years about the sacredness of their bodies that ought not to be touched by anybody at any time.
“Teach them earlier about the body being the temple of God so that they can grow with the concept of holiness,”she said.
She reiterated her determination to serve the orphaned children and those with poor parents to enable them access education through the Affirmative Action Funds.
“The money is small but I will solicit more funds from friends to make the course a success,” she said.
Residents who spoke at the meeting thanked her for the initiative and asked other leaders to emulate her.
“We have seen her good work and expect other leaders will follow suit in supporting the welfare of our people,” said Alice Gesare, a resident.
Other residents who spoke at the meeting decried the high rate of young girls who were crowding in the local pubs.
They said that records indicated a majority of them come from Bomet County and the Trans-mara in Narok.
They appealed to the Kisii County government to countercheck the facts and inform their home counties of the alleged girls for an immediate solution.
Independent survey carried by Education News noted many young girls in the aforesaid social places.
The most affected towns include Magena, Ogembo, Igare, Nyamarambe and Nyangusu.
