JKUAT partners with institution to train middle, senior level managers

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and Center for Regional and International Development (CRID) have officially launched an ICT-focused leadership development programme for managers and executives at the middle and senior levels.

The initiative aims to empower professionals in the private and public sectors with vital managerial skills that will aid in the growth and development of their organization’s workforce as well as improve performance.

The programme has been realized through an innovative partnership initiative between the two organizations, and is dedicated to meeting the current and future development needs of the country’s established and aspiring leaders.

With leadership dynamics constantly changing as a result of new concepts and technologies, the training seeks to review the most recent trends, standards, best practices, and approaches while providing relevant and reliable information through a customer-oriented approach.

Speaking during the official launch of the program, Head of Research, Consultancy, and Training (RCT) Department, Anthony Muhoho, stated that the program will be important in providing leaders with critical skills, essential in transforming their organizations by enhancing value creation, creating efficiencies, and ensuring better employee engagement to deliver better results.

“Through this leadership skills training, managers can now learn how to create a vision for their team and how to inspire others to achieve it. Great leaders attract, hire, and inspire great people,” Muhoho said.

He further said the management training programme will streamline and ease the decision-making process for the attendees and present opportunities that will boost their careers.

Muhoho also noted the program though ICT-oriented, will also be useful to those in other fields.

On the significance of partnerships, CRID’s Regional Co-ordinator for Africa, Nicholas Aitalegbe, stated that the success of any initiative is dependent on instilling a collaborative spirit, while also expressing confidence in the combination of CRID’s world-class experience in training and JKUAT’s academic excellence in ensuring the program achieve its goal.

He urged the participants to utilize the training and improve and add value to their leadership skills to stay ahead of the curve.

“We have carefully designed our training solutions to meet the capacity development of any personnel, and it will be a critical aspect that will empower them to lead teams, make decisions, and have well-structured strategies that will help organizations thrive,” He observed.

Aitalegbe lauded JKUAT for collaborating with CRID, adding that the training also serves to prepare graduates for future leadership roles.

The program will be administered under various subtopics such as supervision and management, sales and marketing, and so on, with dates that are flexible and tailored to the needs of the attendees.

The purpose of CRID is to develop programs that are practical, interactive, and aimed to support companies and individuals in developing capability and improving performance, with a focus on sustainability.
