Principals defend region’s KCSE results, dismiss critics

School Principals from Kisii and Nyamira Counties have defended performance schools from the region in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary School Education ( KCSE) examinations, terming it exemplary.

Kisii County Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA) chairperson, Joyce Orioki dismissed claims it was marred with massive cheating, saying, candidates scored Grades they deserved.

Speaking during Amasege Mixed SDA secondary school Education Day in Masaba South sub County, the official said school heads were intimidated over the results and yet the two counties had less than 100 straight As.

“Children from the Gusii community excel in the examination in the diaspora. Why is that they do not complain and only do so those within the counties do well?” Orioki posed.

Abincha, accompanied by chairman, Laban Ouko and Treasurer, Francis Ogeto said “Cheating in examinations is hot air. We prepare candidates well and that is why they excel”
