Orphan KCPE candidates in dire need of food, material support

Two orphan pupils from West Pokot who have shown extra-ordinary talents in athletics and academics are in dire need of help.

Joshua Pchumba and Shoron Chebet, the ophan siblings lost their beloved mother in 2013 when they were still young.

Their father who became the sole bread winner took care of them by providing the required basic needs including food, shelter, clothing and education but unfortunately, they lost him this year 2023, leaving them to fend on their on and on few occasions some neighbours have been providing them with some food staffs which is not enough.

Sharon Chebet was born in 2004 while his brother Joshua Pchumba was born in 2006 and they both school at Tampalal Primary School and live within Tampalal village in Sugut Sub-Location within Kapenguria division both of them are KCPE candidates this year.

Speaking to Education News the brother and sister said that their main challenge is lack of food, lack of basic needs like cooking fat, soap and body lotion.

Sharon also added that she lacks sanitary towel. It took the intervention of their classmates under their class teacher madam Nancy Butaki to contribute a few materials and some food staff for the two which they handed to the two orphans on Wednesday 5the 2023, When it gets finished they don’t know where the next meal will come from.

Madam Nancy Butaki their class teacher urged them to concentrate with their education which will enable them to improve their status in future.

Another madam in the school, Batul Lomodita also urged the two orphans to maintain high discipline, good moral values and being god fearing in order to boost their success in life.

The two orphans have shown great potential in athletes during the ongoing primary schools athletics competitions.

With some smiles in their faces little will one know that the two orphan candidates require a little more support in terms of the basic needs in order to continue with their education smoothly.
