School holds thanksgiving ceremony for its retired teachers

Pomp and colour were the order of the day during the thanksgiving ceremony of three retired teachers in Ossen Primary School in Baringo County.

The school was commemorating the exceptional services of Haron Cheptoo alias ‘‘Mung’aro’’, Nancy Kulei and Pasculine Komen for producing celebrated professionals who have left a mark in the society.

Speaking at the function, Baringo County Assembly Speaker, Vincent Kemboi and Kabartonjo ward Member of County Assembly Symon Kiplagat lauded the unequivocal role they played in realizing success during their tenure serving in different schools.

The leaders extolled appreciation of the school and community for recognizing the exertions made by the trio saying it was an inspiration to other teachers in the service.

The duo noted that dedication, sheer determination and persistence in their career led to success of pupils they taught who are now trailblazers in different professions in the country and abroad.

The speaker cherished the explicit role of the guest of the day and challenged colleagues to emulate them.

He urged schools in the area to work hard and realize exceptional and quality results if they were destined to allow education in various schools within the vicinity to thrive.

‘‘The back remains with the head teachers and it is out of your enormous task and rapport with teachers that will see fruitful performance in your schools are attainable. I urge you to embrace unity of purpose with fellow teachers to change narrative of our schools producing dismal performance to produce good grades,’’ the County Assembly Speaker reiterated.

The Ward representative praised their struggles and promised to transform education in the area.

Mr. Kiplagat however pledged to offer full four years scholarships for pupils who will score 380 marks in the forthcoming Kenya Certificate of Secondary education.

”It is out of your hard work that has made us leaders who the community, aptly depend upon,” the determined Member of County Assembly said.

Area Curriculum Support Officer (CSO) Mrs. Jane Rerimoi also honored their diligence and love in mentorship of pupils and colleagues.

She also said Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is committed in to make the school a modern school in the area.

She asked them to engage in income generating activities like farming during their retirement.
