More than 100 students of the Sacred Hearts Mukumu Girls in Kakamega County have been admitted to the Kakamega County General Hospital with cases of diarrhea.
After extensive tests were done by the Public Health Officers and medics, cholera was ruled out as the cause of the diarrhea. The medics however are suspecting food poisoning to be the likely cause.
Although it was not immediately established what the students suffered from, initial tests by public health officials ruled out Cholera.
The county health chief officer David Alila said that more students were being received at the hospital.
He added that the hospital will issue a comprehensive report after completing the tests.
Frantic efforts to get any reports from the school could not bear fruits before publishing this news story since no calls to the institution were picked.
