Masinga Constituency will spend Sh 45 million for Education Fund bursaries from the NG-CDF for needy students in secondary schools, middle level colleges and universities.

Speaking at St. Martin Secondary School ground yesterday while distributing cheques, area MP Joshua Mwalyo said the funds were disbursed to selected students from all Wards based on their needs in order to ensure none of them fail to achieve their academic goals due to lack of fees.

He revealed that a total of 18,000 students benefited from the funds after his committee had to scrutinize them to ascertain that only deserving cases benefitted.

“We are investing in the education of our children to enable them to secure a better future by ensuring that no single child fails to access education on the account of poor family background or lack of fees,” the lawmaker said.

Mr. Mwalyo also called on teachers, students, parents, sponsors and locals to work towards registering  better academic performance.

He also asked principles in the region not to send students home due to school fees balances but instead talk with their parents to find a solution.

The MP also asked parents in the region to support measures aimed at improving education standards.

“It is important for parents to remember they have huge role to play in supporting improvement of education standards,” said the legislator.
