MP launches Sh52 million bursary funds for needy students

Njoro Member of Parliament, Charity Kathambi, has launched a Sh52 million NG-CDF bursary to assist needy students in Njoro Constituency to proceed with their education.

Speaking during the launching ceremony which was held at Njoro Town, Kathambi said the bursary will cater for needy students who are in various educational institutions.

She revealed that many students who come from humble backgrounds struggle to get education and majority of them drop-out of school due to lack of school fees and that the NG-CDF bursary has come to their rescue to enable them continue with education to fulfill their academic dreams.

“Some of the students are total orphans while some are partial orphan and some come from humble backgrounds where their parents cannot even afford a daily meal. We will assist them to get education,” said Kathambi.

The MP took the opportunity to warn all Njoro Constituency NGCDF Bursary Committee members against having involvement in corruption practices during the bursary distributing process, adding that she will not tolerate any corruption incidents.

Hon. Kathambi urged the NGCDF Bursary Committee to ensure that the bursary is distributed fairly and all needy students in the Njoro constituency benefit from the bursary free of charge.

“Bursary is free and all students who are needy deserve it. Any NGCDF Officials who will be involved in corrupt activities in the process of distributing bursary to students, will face the the law and I will personally remove them from that duty and make immediate replacements,” said Hon.Kathambi

She also encouraged students to maintain discipline while in school and at home as she urged them to work hard and produce good results that can be emulated by everyone.

“I want to urge all students to work hard and perform well in academics so that they can be useful people in the society,” said Kathambi.

Kathambi also told parents to continue supporting their children who are in various education institutions to enable them achieve their dreams.

The MP urged teachers to ensure the students who pass through their hands have good character and also pass their examinations.

She said that teachers in all education institutions play a very vital role in molding students’ characters and behavior which in turn make them useful people in the society and country at large.

She also thanked all Principals in Njoro Sub County for being helpful to all students by understanding the economic status of some parents, a situation that has enabled those students to proceed with education despite lack of school fees.

“Majority of principals have a lot of understanding especially to parents who come from humble backgrounds, enabling them to pay school fees in installments until they clear it to allow their children to attend class sessions and learn like other student,’ concluded the lesgislator.
