A wave of confusion has struck parents with students at Bishop Mugendi Nyakegogi Secondary school after learning that new Principal, Mr. Boniface Masese, will be transferred just a few days after reporting.

Mr. Masese transferred to the school from St. Pauls Igonga Secondary school after steering it to register a mean score of 10.24 in the 2022 KCSE examinations.

He replaced Mr. Richard Keindiywo who transferred to Chepteya High school in the recent countrywide  wave of teacher transfers.

Mr. Masese will now move to Itierio High school to replace Mr. Peter Ratori who has been transferred to Sori Secondary school in Migori County.

He confirmed to Education News that he received the second letter from the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) after settling in his current station.

Asked if he was comfortable at the current school, he said that he was ready to work at any station depending on instructions given to him from TSC.

“We are civil servants who can report and work wherever and whenever duty calls,” he said.

He disclosed that his first step in the new station will be to familiarize himself with the environment to enable him set goals.

“I don’t want to walk alone but I want to work and walk with the entire school fraternity because education success is a collective responsibility,” he said.

The school Board of Management chairman Fr. Francis Mose said he was aware of the two transfer letters but assured parents that he had alerted the county’s TSC office about the transfer mishap.

The school is one of the sleeping academic giants in Kisii County.

In the 2022 Kenya Secondary School Certificate of Education (KCSE) examinations, it had a mean score of 4.6 with 330 candidates.

Among these, 17 scored C+ giving them direct entry to university while 45 and 59 candidates scored C and C- respectively.
