Omosobwa village of Bomachoge Borabu Constituency in Kisii County is in a sombre mood after a secondary school teacher allegedly committed suicide.
According to the family members, the deceased took supper on Tuesday evening and went to sleep in his house but took too long to wake up the following morning.
The delay caused suspicion from his mother who sent her younger son to check on him.
He found the door locked from outside and called for other family members who forced the door open and found the body of the teacher hanging from the ceiling by a mosquito net.
His family members reported that the 26-year-old teacher, Thomas Kiyondi who taught at St. Peters Keberesi Secondary school, had been living a lonely life since his wife abandoned him one year ago.
Police officers from Kenyenya removed the body to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital for postmortem and further investigations.
The school principal Mr. Maeri mourned him as a responsible teacher who loved his work.
The teacher’s death comes barely three days after another secondary school teacher committed suicide over claims that he wanted to relieve himself from pain of cancer, asthma and high blood pressure that had bogged him for 15 years.
The deceased, Evans Nyangweso Onchari, left an apology note to his wife and requested her to take care of their children and his aging mother.
Following the two consecutive deaths, Kisii-based Pastor George Michira appealed to counselors in the region to hold awareness campaigns and sensitize people on how to cope with social challenges.
He appealed to the residents to embrace a resilient attitude towards life instead of taking their lives and traumatizing their families.
