Vihiga public school in top 5 among private schools in 2022 KCPE

Moses Mudavadi Primary School Mululu in Vihiga County was one of the few public primary schools in Western Kenya that maintained their dominance in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations.

The school managed to weather an onslaught from private schools in the county to retain its spot among the top schools.

According to the 2022 KCPE results that were released on Wednesday by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, the school’s 226 candidates scored a mean score of 355.5 to take the fifth position in the county.

The public school emerged among the first ten, with Good Hope Academy topping the table with a mean score of 388.

It was followed by Mudasa Academy, another private school that despite a drop in performance got a mean score of 387.

Other top private institutions were Hekima with a mean score of 384 and Serve Academy with 376.

Mululu’s Innocent Odede shone light at the school after he got 413 marks to emerge sixth in the county’s ranking.

From the same school, Renhard Otiende and Michelle Alivitsa scored 412 and 411 marks.

Mululu Head teacher Mr. Kihima Eboso said 225 out of the 226 candidates scored above average.

Sixteen got 400 and above marks, 194 shared marks between 300 and 399 marks while 15 managed between 250 and 299. The last candidate scored 247 marks.

He attributed their consistent good performance to hard work and cooperation between the board, teachers, pupils and parents.

There were similar celebrations in several institutions in Kakamega County.

These included Fesbeth Academy, Kakamega Hill School, Booker, St. Anne’s Lubao, St. Joseph’s, Shamusinjiri, St. Mary’s Shibuye Girls, Mukumu Girls, Lugala Mixed and St. Augustine Ilala Boys.
