Taita Taveta primary schools headteachers have been asked to dedicate themselves to their work in order to improve the county’s 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam results.
Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) County Executive Secretary, Mr. Lennox Mshila advised teachers in the county to adhere to the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Code of Conduct to enable them undertake their daily duties more effectively and efficiently.
He further urged teachers in the region to ensure that they cover the Syllabus within the required school timetable in order not to subject children in unnecessary extra classes.
Mshila who spoke to Education News in Wundanyi town recently, however, urged parents to take all their school-age children to give them a sound start to life.
“The trend would equally enhance education levels in the region”, he noted.
Mshila asked the government to ensure availability of adequate infrastructure funds to enable schools in the region have enough learning facilities to enable them post impressive performance in the national examinations.
He lamented that many primary schools in the county still lack essential learning facilities, thus forcing school children to sit on logs, stones and dusty floors while learning.
