A video of a student nurse recorded dancing to a patient at Kitale Referral Hospital while on duty has set the social media ablaze leaving netizens impressed.

Lukreshsa Robia, a nursing student at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Kitale Campus who joined the institution in 2020 explained that during her routine rounds at the facility, she met a child whom she thought was rather low spirited.

“I decided to cheer him up by gracefully dancing to a popular children’s rhyme song from my phone song list,” she added.

Speaking to the press, she stated that as a nurse she felt obliged to cheer the young patient who had been admitted with a fractured leg.

“To my delight, the trick worked since the patient who was then sitting upright on the bed began moving around rhythmically with his arms and leg. That planted a smile on my face. Dancing remains my passion and also an art. I will use it to communicate messages of hope to those who are low and even strangers who happen to be around me and appear to be in need,” Robia said.

According to her, dancing is a means of allowing a human being to express his/her inner feeling thoughts and experiences.

“It is a form of health, education and communication tool,” she said.

A sneak peek into her social media accounts reveal that she danced alongside people of different walks of life including street children, watchmen and Boda boda riders so as to brighten their days.

Kenyans lauded Robia for changing the perception of Kenyan nurses who many don’t view in that playful light.
