Kilifi Township Secondary in need of more teachers, facilities

Kilifi Township Boys Secondary School Principal Charo Ali Katana has revealed that the school urgently requires 12 more teachers to end understaffing and to enhance effective teaching and learning.

The principal noted that the school has only 31 teachers employed by Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and 11 others employed by the Board of Management.

The five stream school has a student enrolment of 1,018.

The principal said the school which was founded in 1966 also has infrastructural challenges which have equally affected the school.

He appealed to local leaders and the community to come to the aid of the institution.

“The school is growing at a very high rate yet we do not have proper facilities. We need five modern laboratories, a modern library, dormitory and dining hall,” said Katana.

 

He asked the government to provide adequate funds to the school to enable it implement its development projects and improve its academic standards.

In regards to security, the school has a permanent perimeter wall which was erected courtesy of the Mombasa Cement Limited.

Katana thanked the organization for supporting them and giving back to the community and asked others to emulate them.
