Mogotio Girls introduces reward scheme for top performers in STEM subjects

Mogotio Girls has introduced a reward scheme for KCSE candidates who will score A in Sciences and Maths.

The school’s principal Mrs Irene Chemuren noted that the move is to encourage more students to aim for quality grades.

She added that their target is to send more than 100 students directly to universities.

“The plan is to increase the number of quality grades by focusing more on STEM subjects,” she added.

Mrs Chemuren was speaking during the recent Prayer Day for the 183 candidates registered for 2022 KCSE.

The event was attended by parents, teachers, students, education stakeholders and area leaders.

She revealed that the school has gradually grown from humble beginnings to the current extra county status with a student population of more than 900.

“We had a mean of 5.89 in 2021 KCSE, up from 5.3 in 2020 KCSE. We intend to register a positive deviation of 2.11,” he said.

The school has 56 teachers and 29 non-teaching staff.

Board of Management (BoM) chairman Eng. Daniel Bundotich motivated the girls to work hard to attain the targeted mean.

He added that they are working on ensuring they get more classrooms and other facilities from the government.

The event was presided over by area MP Hon Kiborek Reuben who pledged to disburse bursaries for bright but needy students and to help the school drill a borehole.
