Education Cabinet secretary Prof George Magoha has assured parents that learners in boarding schools will not be sent home if there will be a re-run of the general elections in the near future.

The CS says noted that the petition that will be filed in the Supreme Court to challenge the presidential results will not affect learning.

The ministry will keep students in schools despite schools being used as polling stations since voting is a one-day exercise.

The said CS said the government will give the way forward, putting into consideration the safety of all learners.

On August 13th, the ministry postponed the reopening of schools to August 18th citing the concluded vote-tallying exercise.

Speaking during a press conference after commissioning phase 2 Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) classrooms in Embakasi, Magoha said that he has performed well in his docket despite coming off as arrogant.

“If during that process, we have looked like we are arrogant, then we seek your forgiveness but not that we are about to change. Eagles always keep on flying,” he said.

He added, “If any of my jokes went the wrong way, that was not the intention; my apologies to the general public. There’s nobody who’s perfect. As a practicing Christian, I respect everybody, from the lowest to the highest.”
