Ruto asks Kenyans to submit opinions in ongoing CBC review

President William Ruto has asked Kenyans to submit their views on the ongoing Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) reforms to the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms popularly known as the CBC review taskforce.

He added that Kenyans could also hand over their submissions in person to the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

Speaking during the 59th Mashujaa Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi, Ruto reiterated the Party Chairman, Raphael Munavu’s earlier call for opinions concerning the matter.

He said that the decision of the newly formed taskforce would be critical in determining the course of education reforms in the country.

“We inaugurated the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms to review all aspects of education a week ago. Its findings and decisions shall inform the interactions that will be taken to ensure that Kenya delivers the training needed for sustainable development,” the President said.

President Ruto and his aide have a light moment during the 59th Mashujaa Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi.

The taskforce was given the responsibility of reviewing and recommending a governance and financing framework for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) training and development, university, education, research and training.

The taskforce will also make recommendations on how to streamline continuity in TVET and the transition to university education and make recommendations for legislation to consolidate all tertiary education funding entities.

The team was further tasked with providing the President with a progress report after every two months.

While saying that his administration was working to digitize and automate more services, the President noted that he was committed to investing in information and technology to enhance the education sector.
