Education sector to reap big as governor makes good his campaign pledges

Migori County Governor Dr. Ochilo Ayacko has pledged to re-introduce the county’s  bursary kitty for needy students in a bid to enhance the education sector.

In his speech at the Migori County Assembly, he noted that Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) played a major role in the academic foundation of children and in turn a better society thus he promised to construct more centres and employ more teachers to upgrade the sector.

Ayackos’ government has also appointed three teachers among the first six nominees for the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) positions as per his campaign pledge to the teaching fraternity.

During the concluded campaign period, pledged that he would reward teachers with  opportunities to serve in his government.

The nominees are; immediate retired St. Joseph’s school Rapogi principal, Mourice Otunga as Finance CECM, Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Migori branch Executive Secretary Caleb Oduor Opondi as Public Service Management CECM and immediate retired Kuja Deaf Secondary School principal Julius Awuor Nyerere as Health CECM.

The governor said he was keen on delivering his campaign pledges to the people while calling on Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) to support his administration to enhance adequate service delivery.

The nominees who were vetted in a session chaired by Migori county Speaker Hon. Charles Owino Likowa at Florence hotel in Migori town, are expected to assume office immediately the vetting committee approves of their nomination.
