Parents appeal to TSC to stop transfer of good performing teachers

Parents from Kenyenya in Kisii county have appealed to the Teachers Service Commission not to transfer teachers who have performed well in their current schools before they complete their envisioned projects.

Led by Nyanza region Parents’ Association chairman Mr. Paul Mainga, the parents appealed to the commission to reverse the transfer of Mr. Kengere Mbaka from Mwongoris Secondary School to Kebabe Secondary School.

Mr. Mainga said that Mr. Mbaka had transformed Mwongoris Secondary School to a good performing school with a high student population and good infrastructure.

At Nyambaria High School, there was a solemn mood as the new principal inspected the offices.

A parent who sought anonymity revealed that the community around wasn’t happy with the transfer of Mr. Boaz Owino.

Parents from Nyambaria School hired two buses and travelled to Mr. Owino’s home in Siaya to conduct a farewell and retirement party.

They appealed to the Ministry of Education to review his contract and return him to the school to complete the good plans he had for the school.

Commenting on the transfers, Kisii County Education Director Mr. Pius Ngoma said that the transfers of any civil servants were normal.

“TSC has the mandate to promote, hire and fire its employees according to the Code of Regulations,” he said.

He further directed that complaints should be addressed to his TSC counterpart.
