Secondary school heads from Kisumu County have expressed concern over the decision by the Ministry of Education to push the reopening dates for basic learning institutions to 15th August.
The Chairman of the secondary school heads in the area Mr George Opiyo Nyangwe noted that the new date cannot be for certain until all election results are announced.
Speaking to Education News, he said that due to the nature of election activity, anything can happen between now and 15th August.
This comes after the Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Professor George Magoha said in a circular released by the ministry that the process of tallying votes was still ongoing in some learning institutions hence the pushing of the reopening dates.
Prof Magoha earlier in the day announced the new date following consultations with the government.
He said the new communication supersedes any earlier communicating which was made to that effect.
Earlier indications were that schools will reopen on Thursday 11.
