Where are the owners of hundreds unclaimed adult education certificates?

Rarieda Sub-county Adult and Continuing Education Officer Willis Adet has decried the apathy of adult learners who have failed to collect their certificates decades after they did their examinations.

Piles of academic certificates dating as far back as 2002 are yet to be picked from their offices, which include proficiency, KCPE and KCSE examinations certificates.

Adet also complained of inadequacy of instructors in the adult education centres, revealing that there were less than 10 teachers for the over 260 adult learners spread across the vast sub-county.

“It is regrettable that adult education is not given the necessary prominence it deserves. We have always encouraged people to consider continuing their studies for self-improvement because through the system, one is able to pursue education even to higher levels. We  passionately appeal to the government to consider employing more teachers to help us offer effective services,” noted Adet.

The distribution of the adult education learning centres in Rarieda Sub-county and their enrolments is Ongielo Centre with 15 learners, Lwak Mission with 30, Lweya Compassionate (45), Sinogo (10), Ruma Primary (30), Mituri Primary (40), Luoro Primary (60), and Nyayiera Cluster (20).
