Teachers Service Commission CEO Dr Nancy Macharia has revealed that the commission has posted 14,460 teachers recruited last month to various schools across the country.

Speaking during the World Teachers’ Day event held at the Kenya School of Government, the CEO urged the newly recruited teachers to quickly settle down in their work stations and relieve the existing staff of their current workload.

She thanked the teachers for shouldering the big burden in schools arising from the 100 percent  transition policy.

Concerning CBC, the CEO thanked President William Ruto for appointing eight classroom teachers to the CBC taskforce and for ensuring that the TSC secretariat is well represented.

“The commission commends and welcomes this bold step to engage Kenyans in the implementation of CBC in line with the constitution,” she said.

She added that the commission will comply with the recommendations of the taskforce as directed by the president.

During the event, the commission recognized 264 most outstanding teachers countrywide.

“The commission will also honour 51 teachers who have won national awards over the last two years, 21 of whom were awarded in 2022, “Dr Macharia noted, adding that the teachers were identified in strict adherence with the TSC Performance Recognition, Reward and Sanction Policy Framework.

The CEO argued that the awarded teachers have consistently demonstrated exemplary performance in teaching, management and effective delivery of the curriculum for quality education and community service.

“TSC will continue exploring more ways to ensure teachers feel recognized,” she promised.

She wished teachers the best of luck as they prepare candidates for three national exams: KCPE, KCPE and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) which will be administered for the first time.

She thanked them for tirelessly working to restore the normal school calendar which should resume in January 2023 and which was interrupted by the emergence of the Covid -19 pandemic in 2020.
