Parents of a school in Nyamira County are living in fear for their children’s lives over a potential and constant threat of electrocution.

According to Kenyoro Primary School head teacher Mr. David Manyange, the pupils and teachers are living in fear due to sagging electricity wires hanging above the classrooms and cutting across the school playground.

They parents alleged that the Board of Management had alerted relevant authorities several times to intervene nothing had been done so far.

“The bending electricity posts and sagging wires are a disaster in waiting for our children,” said Jane Gesare.

Mr. Manyange said he sent his deputy to the Kenya Power Nyamira office to seek assistance but its officers never turned up as promised.

“I wrote a reminder to them and served the area chief with a copy but still nothing has happened,” he said.

The head teacher appealed to the local authorities to intervene and save the school from the impending danger.
