First Aid competition attracts several schools in West Pokot, Nasokol emerging top

Nasokol Girls High School emerged top school in the Secondary Schools First Aid Junior Competitions held on 18th June 2022 at the Kenya Red Cross Society grounds in West Pokot County.

They were followed by Ortum Boys High School from Pokot North while St. Ann’s Girls High School Chelopoy, also from Pokot North took third place.

Ortum Boys Secondary School attained position two secondary schools category

In the primary schools category, Makutano Central took first position while St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Primary School took position 2.

Makutano Central Academy emerged position one in the Primary School Category

The competition is an annual event which focuses on equipping the students with basic first AID skills which can be used in schools and in the community in general.

St Marys Assumption Primary School came in position two in the primary category

The chairman of the Kenya Red Cross Society of Kenya West Pokot Branch Mr. Benson Ririmpoi urged students to be focused in their studies and congratulated the participating schools for exhibiting their sharp skills in tackling emerging issues.

St Ann’s Chelopoy Girls Secondary School were position three secondary schools category

Scola Kapelo, the coordinator of the Kenya Red Cross Society of Kenya, West Pokot branch announced that those schools which took position one and two will proceed for the regional competitions.

Mr. Benson Mutiso, the Kenya Red Cross Society instructor, hailed the students for participating and showing high standards of discipline, which he credited to their schools.

The patrons of the participating schools were Madam Jecinta Etale of Nasokol Girls High School, Mr. Edwin Sang of Ortum Boys High School, Madam Irine Too of St. Ann’s (Chelopoy) Girls High School, Madam Lea Chepkemei and Linet Chepkorir, both for Makutano Central Academy, and Madam Zibiah Krop and Mr. Raphael Poghisho representing St. Mary’s Assumption Catholic Primary School.
