Students to benefit from free eye check-up by local underwriter

By Enock Okongo

Directline Assurance Company has announced that it will provide free medical check-up and assistance to students with eye problems in the country.

Speaking at Nyamataro Primary School in Nyamira North sub county, the company’s Public Relations and Claims Officer Pauline Warui said they took the step as a means of giving back to society.

“Our company believes in giving back to society by fostering them through supporting their education and health,” she said.

Ms. Warui noted that most students from poor backgrounds faced financial problems that denied them access to quality education and health services.

“Ours is to identify such gaps and fill them by providing both financial and health support,” the officer said.

She revealed that they would extend free medical services to all drivers who may be suffering from eye sight which is one of the causes of road accidents in the country.

The Officer said that the company’s offer was a herald of the World Sight Day that is celebrated in October annually.

She later on presided over the handing over of two new class rooms to the School Management Committee as compensation by Ena Coach Bus Services after one of their buses lost control and destroyed the classes.
